Nesting Tides is a vibrant tribute to the unique identity of Sandringham, where community meets the bay. Positioned at the Sandy Bay Road Roundabout, the design draws on aquatic themes, using a series of nested, concentric ovals to reflect the natural rhythm and movement of Port Phillip Bay. These forms, reminiscent of tidal pools, extend the bay into the heart of the shopping precinct, visually and symbolically linking the roundabout with the nearby shoreline.

Designed to be both visually striking and durable, the artwork balances aesthetics and functionality, as this area has heavy traffic flows. The result is a site-responsive composition that honours Sandringham’s coastal character while transforming a key urban junction into a dynamic visual landmark.

Nesting Tides invites both locals and visitors to see the roundabout not merely as infrastructure, but as an everyday celebration of place, where land and sea, movement and stillness, come together through art.
